SPCA Seizes 131 Dogs, Exotic Bird In Ore City

ORE CITY -- The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Texas seized 131 dogs and an exotic bird Friday from a property in Ore City.

Some of the dogs and the bird were deemed cruelly confined inside the home in an 8-foot-by-8-foot room.

The floor was soaked in urine and feces and the room lacked proper ventilation and clean water.

Puppies were kept in plastic tubs without food or water.

The other dogs were outside either confined to pens or roamed the property.

SPCA Communications Specialist Jaklin Kaden said it took three hours to clear to property.

At the request of the Marion County Sheriff's Department, the SPCA of Texas responded to a complaint about the property and investigated Wednesday.

Concerned for the owners' wellbeing, SPCA also contacted Adult Protective Services..."  More
