Cheatham County sees rise in animal hoarding cases

In a matter of just six weeks, Cheatham County Animal Control director Karen Josephson has added three hoarding cases for a total of four to her already overloaded task list.

Two of the cases are in the Chapmansboro area, while the other two are in Joelton and Ashland City.

"There are three common telltale signs of hoarding," Josephson said. "One, they don't know how many animals they have. Two, the animals have no names. They're one huge sea of need. And three, they aren't aware of illness, injury or other health issues of the animals. They tend to think the animals are fine because they've been saved."
