Nearly 50 Animals Seized From Bellevile Mobile Home; Resident Faces Animal Cruelty Charges

A Belleville woman is facing two counts of animal cruelty after a number of dogs and cats were found in her home Thursday.

According to the criminal complaint, Sandra Durkin had about 40 mixed breed dogs, four cats, and a bird in two rooms of a small mobile home.

The document explains at times there were eight to ten animals living in a small kennel that had feces in it which in some cases was several inches deep.

The complaint alleges some animals were diseased and didn't have enough water.

Durkin has since been released on a $1000 bond.

She faces fines and jail time plus the forfeiture of the animals if convicted..." More
