The curtains are drawn at the small house that sits on a tidy plot of land in the city's south end.
From the outside, it looks like any other war-time bungalow — compact and unassuming.
What lies behind those curtains, however, is another matter.
The house is filled with clutter and filth.
Boxes, bags, newspapers and other litter are stacked almost to the ceiling. The front door is impassable, blocked by a mountain of debris.
"This is certainly not just a matter of housekeeping, this is beyond extreme," said assistant fire chief Jim Jessop.
