Inside A Central Ohio Hoarder's Nightmare

Last year, Emily Evans was sent to jail twice for the home she owns.

She's a hoarder on the city's west side in Prairie Township and neighbors said her home was so packed with trash and garbage that it smelled up the entire neighborhood.

What happened in the quiet, middle class neighborhood may be more prevalent than you think.

Hoarding is technically not considered a mental illness, but it is expected to be designated soon.

"It's a problem that actually worsens with life. It's one of the few psychiatric problems that worsens with life. Most psychiatric problems don't," said Dr. Marion Sherman, of the Ohio Department of Mental Health.
