Breeder says seizure of 71 dogs not justified

The SPCA received a tip that the animals at Green Acres Kennels were in distress and are now recommending charges of animal cruelty. But breeder Nancy Kitching denies those allegations.

"I sell babies, okay. These bring so much love into peoples lives and help them through tough times," she told CTV News.

Kitching had been given several notices to follow-up on SPCA orders and environmental concerns before officers arrived with a search warrant on July 5.

"I think the vet evidence speaks for itself," said Marcie Moriarty, general manager of cruelty investigations for the BC SPCA.

"Sure they may have been well fed, but when they have rotting teeth, they can't breathe through their noses, they have genetic defects, infections in their ears and eyes – I'm not sure what her standard is.".." More & video
