Mar 6, 2012:  Animal Hoarding Suspect Reportedly 'Pimped Herself Out' for Hay

A disturbing case of animal hoarding has been reported out of Eastern Washington state. Nearly 100 large animals were seized from a property in Elk during an animal cruelty investigation. The animals alone are the main reason that the case is making news, but there was a strange twist to it when the suspect began talking to authorities about the animals.
According to KREM.com, 35-year-old Michelle Stiner was having trouble taking care of all the animals and that several ended up dead under suspicious circumstances. When selling some of her goats to pay for hay didn't bring in enough to feed all of the animals, Stiner reportedly used difference measures to "earn" hay. Court documents of the investigation indicate that Stiner was "pimping herself out" to get hay and that she was "performing sexual acts for people" as well..."  More


Feb 27, 2012:  Cost of care adding up for animals rescued in Elk farm raid

ELK, WASH.—The cost of care is adding up for the Spokane County Animal Shelter after officers seized more than 90 animals from a farm near the town of Elk.
On Friday, the county shelter served a search warrant at the farm and seized horses, goats, sheep, llamas, cows and other household pets from the farm.
Most of the animals, except for a few dogs are being housed at an emergency shelter at the Spokane County Fairgrounds.  SCRAPS says the cost of care for the animals has approached $10,000 primarily because of veterinary care and food.
Officials say the animals were not being properly fed and some were living in unclean conditions.  The condition of many of the animals ranged from extremely thin to emaciated..."  More & video
