Cats, owner taken from condemned Danville house

After investigating an animal situation, an elderly Danville woman was moved to a nursing home and her extensively damaged home condemned Friday.
The Danville Area Humane Society and Danville Police Department responded to a call Friday afternoon at 603 Sunnyside Drive of an elderly woman who reportedly had several cats living in the residence.
The owner of the home, whose name is not being released, gave permission to officials from animal control, police officers and the humane society to enter the house to investigate the situation. This is the third time that a complaint has been made, police said.
Paulette Dean, executive director of the Danville Area Humane Society, said 57 dogs were removed from the home in 2003, and 50 cats were removed from the home in 2006.
She speculated 10 cats were in the house, but because of extensive damage and holes throughout the house, there was no way to be sure until they surfaced..."  More & video
